She is a thought leader, Forbes featured, international speaker, and author of Black, Brilliant, and Dyslexic.<\/p><p>Marcia was named one of the <strong>top 133 women who changed the world in 2023 by Diverse In \u2013 the Global Diversity and Inclusion Embassy. <\/strong>She is also featured as a notable dyslexic by Dyslexia Help - The Regents University of Michigan and is also a Trustee of the <strong>British Dyslexia Association.<\/strong><\/p><p>She is married and has two children and over the years, has felt the need to <em>\u2018hack the system\u2019,<\/em> to develop mechanisms to navigate the education system and the workplace. She has learned to accept herself and realise that we are all different, despite the illusion that we are all the same shape size and that a dominant group exists within the human race.<\/p><p>Marcia is keen to <strong>empower others to find their voice<\/strong>, working from a place of acceptance and self-love, which Marcia herself has had to invest in, in order to achieve, as she was always told what she cannot do, rather than what she can.<\/p><p><strong>Achieving a BSc (Hons) degree<\/strong> in Information Science with Librarian status, a postgraduate qualification in Career Guidance, Certificate in person-centred Counselling Skills, a diploma in Specialist Teaching, and an MA in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Marcia has worked in the education community sector for the last 30 years, providing information, advice, and guidance in higher education and post-16, as well as being a SEND lead.<\/p><p><strong><em>Level 3 IPSEA trained supporting and empowering parents and young people with special education needs.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>As a qualified Careers Advisor, Marcia has a particular focus on personal development, helping young people to achieve their full potential and aspirations by setting personal goals, fuelled by a passion to work with young people with dyslexic and neurodiverse needs (SEND) in preparing for adulthood and transition to secondary, college, University, workplace or self-employment.<\/p>","urlTitle":"who-is-marcia-brissett-bailey","url":"\/blog\/who-is-marcia-brissett-bailey\/","editListUrl":"\/my-blogs","editUrl":"\/my-blogs\/edit\/who-is-marcia-brissett-bailey\/","fullUrl":"https:\/\/black-brilliant-and-dyslexic.teemill.com\/blog\/who-is-marcia-brissett-bailey\/","featured":false,"published":true,"showOnSitemap":true,"hidden":false,"visibility":null,"createdAt":1708379701,"updatedAt":1708380600,"publishedAt":1708380600,"lastReadAt":null,"division":{"id":332036,"name":"Black Brilliant and Dyslexic"},"tags":[],"metaImage":{"original":"https:\/\/images.podos.io\/48y2oyku2no7knse8opd78xmjtibxheqqxard7wb7cslz929.png","thumbnail":"https:\/\/images.podos.io\/48y2oyku2no7knse8opd78xmjtibxheqqxard7wb7cslz929.png.jpg?w=1140&h=855","banner":"https:\/\/images.podos.io\/48y2oyku2no7knse8opd78xmjtibxheqqxard7wb7cslz929.png.jpg?w=1920&h=1440"},"metaTitle":"","metaDescription":"","series":[],"similarReads":[],"labels":[]}
